Part of a collection of antique Italian terracotta oil jars from Impruneta, Tuscany. This high handled, double-banded orcio shows fantastic ageing and patination.
This traditional style of olive jar stands tall and slim with attractive double banding; both adorned with a criss-cross design. Although no potters marks or names have been stamped on this piece, it is believed to be one of the oldest from a collection pre-dating 1920. Delightfully weathered and with a tap hole towards the base, this is an all-around impressive orcio.
