Standing at over one metre in height, this interesting tall Orcio comes from a collection of ancient olive jars from Impruneta. Adorned with emblem and initials.
This is a tall Orcio with a narrow diameter. There is a stamp above the rosette boss; two circles around what look to be a set of initials, although it is difficult to confirm exactly what they are due to weathering. Possibly the initials or stamp of an important family or company in Impruneta but equally could be the potters' mark; however, more usually, this would be accompanied by a full name.
The Orcio has plenty of moss and lichen growth and a light patina. Judging by the weathering, it is probably one of the oldest from the collection—another delightful piece.
