We often hear about how much of an impact supporting small businesses has on the people who run them, and as a small business ourselves, we know that only too well. That support isn't just about customers though, sometimes it's about businesses supporting other businesses, too.
We first met Louise from The Woodee when we were assigned neighbouring pitches at one of our first ever RHS shows. Back then we were both tiny, family-run businesses trying to make our stands look good on a shoestring budget, competing with businesses much bigger than ourselves.
Although we stopped attending shows, Louise continued to thrive and grow with The Woodee, and that's how she meets a lot of customers. Unfortunately, Louise has been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer and has had to cancel their presence at all of the shows they normally exhibit at. In Louise's words, "If we are not seen, we don't sell."
So that's why we want to draw your attention to The Woodee, today!
Based in rural Herefordshire, they design gorgeous products, working with local craftspeople to bring them to life. Handcrafted fire pits, artisan tools, and beautifully made accessories for wood burners and open fires. All of their products are made from locally grown and sustainably sourced materials, and as well as being works of art, they're built to last a lifetime!
From hand-forged skewers and cooking sets to stainless steel fire pits and wooden chopping boards - if you love being outdoors, toasting marshmallows and telling stories around a fire then have a look through their website, it's a dream! You won't just be supporting Louise and her family through a difficult time, you'll also be supporting the local craftspeople they work with on a regular basis.
And of course, if you know someone else you think would love it too, please feel free to pass the link on to them as well.
